How We Carry Out Work

  1. 1

    Inspection

We check the veneer depth, joint stability, and the nature of the surface damage.

  2. 2

    Surface Cleaning

Old wax, dirt, and failed finishes come off by hand with neutral solvents.

  3. 3

    Grain Repair

Shallow ring marks lift through mild heat, light scraping, and colour matching.

  4. 4

    Refinishing

We apply fresh breathable oil or wax polish and let it cure naturally.

Why Work With Calverley Timberworks

Removal of ring marks, heat haze, and surface scratches.

Retained Character

We keep the age marks and patina of the wood rather than sanding it flat.

Heat Resistance

Modern microporous oils handle hot cups and spills far better than aged varnish.

Local Transport

We collect and return the top across Leeds in our own van.

Our Workmanship Standard

We stand behind every joint we reglue and every surface we finish. If a repaired joint fails or a finish lifts under normal home use within twelve months, we collect the piece and correct the problem without charge. We do not ask for payment until the work is finished and sitting in your home. Pricing & payment

Notes From Furniture Owners

★★★★★
Our Georgian dining table had loose legs and heavy ring marks. Julian dismantled the loose mortise joints and revived the walnut grain with linseed oil. It sits firmly on the floor now.

The workshop returned my grandfather's oak armchair wrapped in heavy protective quilts. The wobble in the armrest is completely gone, and the beeswax polish smells fresh.

Clear written quote provided at my flat. The repairs to the cracked mahogany desk top were neatly executed without masking the natural patina of the wood.
