Why Work With Calverley Timberworks

Dismantling, cleaning, and re-bonding wobbly timber seating.

Structural Safety

Joints no longer stress neighbouring rails, preventing snapped timber.

Level Stance

Every repaired chair sits flat on your floor without rocking.

Reversible Craft

We use traditional hide glue where appropriate for future repairability.

How We Carry Out Work

  1. 1

    Disassembly

Loose joints are gently knocked apart using dead-blow mallets and soft blocks.

  2. 2

    Joint Preparation

We scrape away crystallized glue so the timber pores can grip fresh adhesive.

  3. 3

    Clamping and Alignment

The chair sits in bar clamps on our flat stone table to keep all four feet true.

Our Workmanship Standard

We stand behind every joint we reglue and every surface we finish. If a repaired joint fails or a finish lifts under normal home use within twelve months, we collect the piece and correct the problem without charge. We do not ask for payment until the work is finished and sitting in your home. Pricing & payment

Notes From Furniture Owners

★★★★★
Our Georgian dining table had loose legs and heavy ring marks. Julian dismantled the loose mortise joints and revived the walnut grain with linseed oil. It sits firmly on the floor now.

The workshop returned my grandfather's oak armchair wrapped in heavy protective quilts. The wobble in the armrest is completely gone, and the beeswax polish smells fresh.

Clear written quote provided at my flat. The repairs to the cracked mahogany desk top were neatly executed without masking the natural patina of the wood.
